3D Motion Planning for Robot-Assisted Active Flexible Needle Based on Rapidly-Exploring Random Trees
An active flexible needle is a self-actuating needle that can bend in the tissue and reach the clinical targets while avoiding anatomic obstacles. In robot-assisted needlebased medical procedures, motion planning is a vital aspect of operations. It is challenging due to the nonholonomic motion of the needle and the presence of anatomic obstacles and sensitive organs that must be avoided. We pro...
متن کاملA Novel Subsampling Method for 3D Multimodality Medical Image Registration Based on Mutual Information
Mutual information (MI) is a widely used similarity metric for multimodality image registration. However, it involves an extremely high computational time especially when it is applied to volume images. Moreover, its robustness is affected by existence of local maxima. The multi-resolution pyramid approaches have been proposed to speed up the registration process and increase the accuracy of th...
متن کامل3D Robot Assisted Fracture Reduction
Reduction in femoral shaft fractures may be difficult to achieve with minimal invasive techniques. Malalignment and high intraoperative radiation exposures can result. Our hypothesis is that robot assisted fracture reduction may improve the quality of reduction while reducing the amount of radiation exposure. In this paper we present a telemanipulator system for the robot assisted reduction of ...
متن کاملMedical image retrieval based on 3D lesion content
Content-based image retrieval is an emerging technology which could provide decision support to radiologists. This paper describes a system for content-based image retrieval based on 3D features extracted from liver lesions in abdominal computed tomography images. A supervised learning algorithm is developed to transform image features into search rankings. In our experiments, the supervised le...
متن کامل3D Medical Image Enhancement based on Wavelet Transforms
This paper studies 2D and 3D wavelet domain medical image resolution enhancement method. The proposed approach is based on the interpolation of the low resolution input image and the derived high frequency sub-band images obtained using Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT). Experimental results on both 2D and 3D images show how our method enhances the image’s details and preserves edges.
